Be The Music In You

To some people it may seem that I am some kind of dance music vocalist, singing over the popular genre of EDM lately and getting involved in Bass and House music.
The above is true! However, so much more than that is true!

A couple of weeks ago I felt like I was hitting a brick wall. None of the tons of projects I have been working on the last 6 months were pulling through and my whole focus went on just getting another single out.

I had to stop myself and become centred again in who I truly am at that point as I wasn't happy and felt the wrong kind of pressure on me. My passion became my burden. It felt uncomfortable and bad at the time but it lead me to the inner space I needed to be. I dug out an old diary and found this written on the 4th November 2012:

"I want to make music that's authentic, makes people think and has a positive impact!"

I am not just a vocalist wanting to make it in the more and more commercialised electronic dance music scene. I'm a musician who, since the young age of 4, has learnt and played piano and wrote songs since the age of 10, hit the studio since the age of 12!

Yes, I got somewhat distracted by being in a band that had no creative influence over the music and then spent a good few years dancing, BUT music is the deepest passion I carry in me and the most honest thing I can share with people when words aren't sufficient enough.

So I have come back to who I truly am and let that carry me to the success I also wish for, but not for the sake of success but for the sake of the beauty music carries - the butterflies it creates when I hear someone's honest song...the beats that beat alongside my heartbeat when the bass awakes deeper emotions in me...

After spending my monday afternoon in Starbucks reading my favourite fashion mag "Elle" and reading what Editor Lorraine Candy had to say about Michelle Williams, I was inspired to write the blog I am writing and share what's been brewing on my heart. Lorraine writes: "(...) I have never come across a celebrity who has engendered such a positive response(...). You can analyse it every which way, but really it's just about being authentic and real."
Authenticity goes a long way and I will keep writing honest songs and work with producers I love, even if they are or the genre isn't not the most wanted!

I'd love for this blog to be more interactive! Why don't you comment with a link to your favourite song that makes you feel alive and I will promise to tweet it too (it can't be to promote your own music!).

Fashion & Beauty - What I really think about TRESemmé!?

Ever since I was 9 years old and I decided to follow the current fashion trend in my school of girls cutting their beautiful blonde hair into a short bob and then crying all night about it, I was very protective of my hair for the years to come!

I have tried many different brands and yet my hair still didn't look as smooth as I wanted, was splitting quickly and didn't grow very fast UNTIL I came across Tresseme.

So you really want to know what I think of TRESemmé ?

Whenever I get asked how I keep my hair in such good condition, considering how much I have high-lighted, bleached it and played around with hair chalk as well as pastel colours more recently, my answer is TREsemmé.

It is THE BEST hair product brand I've tried! Ever since using TRESemmé about 5 years ago my hair has been the healthiest it has ever been! It became apparent to me when I went to Germany for 6 weeks and couldn't get hold of the brand. My hair became dry and brittle. After tweeting about this, TRESemmé sent me a lovely parcel with their new, awesome Keratin Smooth range as well as their Oil Elixier ! These products got my hair into shape again in no time and have been using them since.

Beauty Tip: My favourite thing to do on a sunday night is to mix up a Tressemé masque (their breakage defence or split remedy masque are my favourites) with olive oil and leave it in for half hour. It does leave the hair slightly greasy until the next wash but it leaves the hair amazingly moisturised and silky smooth and shiny as Olive oil is known to help hair growth, prevent breakage and for its detangling effect.

Fashion - Recarsi "Dream big, DO big!

It was around this time last year I was contacted by fashion label "Recarsi" after tweeting about looking for fashion sponsors for upcoming gigs/photoshoots etc.

I love when things come to life! The week before Recarsi got in touch, I sat down and evaluated my life and my career. As part of that, my goal was to get some fashion brands behind me that I can promote as I find fashion a big inspiration in staying creative, even in making music and keeping me motivated to pursue this rocky but exciting path of living a full-time creative life!

It's amazing that the first brand that got in touch was Recarsi, as their ethos is exactly what I preach to myself and want to encourage other people with:

Life is all about DREAMIG big and then DOING big! They go hand in hand!
When I read what Recarsi is all about, my passion is sparked and I get even more excited about life - It's why I love fashion as it's more than just a necessity, it's an inspiring art form!
Recarsi sent me some of their great range of T-shirts and accessories and I wore them to the launch of Brighton's first music conference - BMC 2014!

Stardust - Creativity beyond limits

Stardust - Creativity Beyond Limits

About a year ago I received an email from a wonderful woman, Leyla Garcia!

Leyla is from Mexico and our ways collided on twitter and our passion for music was our connection point.

Initially we were talking about me flying out to Mexico to do some shows, however our friendship has since developed into something far more important and beautiful than just business.

Recently, Leyla wrote a lovely Blog about a Skype interview she did with me so now it's time to return the favour.

We keep in touch pretty much solely through social networks so when I received a message from her on twitter a couple weeks ago I wasn't only touched but also inspired, when she sent me some lyrics she wrote. They certainly fulfilled their purpose - as I sat down at my piano and started playing and singing the words she wrote.

Later that night I decided to record my little piece of inspiration, not because it's perfect but because it's from the hearts of 2 woman, so it's only fitting I'm writing this blog today on international woman's day!

Here are the wonderful lyrics by Leyla Garcia:

"I can't believe you smashed my heart so hard it became Stardust.

This is my heart - the tiny pieces of my heart, shining brightly in the dark, shining brightly in the air I breathe... But I can't feel it anymore, it is dust -Stardust"
