It all came together just the night before the shoot with the amazing Bella - a beautiful Inuit dog thanks to Sarah Reeves and Martin O'Hare doing wonderful Games Of Thrones like hair.
One of my favourite shoots I've ever done displaying my character in a way I don't often display, showing my wild, free spirit - a reflection of a wild Wolf.
After months of hard work, writing and recording tons of songs, almost signing some deals and then falling through in the end, I'm more than thrilled to announce that I have collaborated with 1000DaysWasted on a melodic, dark drum'n'bass tune titled "Midnight Sun" and signed it to his label Night45UK. It's been an amazing journey working with Robin (1000DaysWasted), having become friends throughout this whole process whilst not ever losing focus on what we both love - music and delivering something we think will please your ears. "Midnight Sun" will be out 26th October exclusively on Beatport and I'm calling all the Wolfferines to howl about it as loud as you can. My last single went to 48 of the Progressive House Beatport and 1000DaysWasted frequently charts with his releases so this one can't fail us. Every download will count! For now, check out the preview and please Repost it on your soundcloud, RT on your twitter, share on your facebook... Anyone with a radio station, we can send you a full version to make noise about it already and give interviews, if you have a blog we can email you the full press release! Just get in touch on music@eximouk.com or tweet @missmayawolff! Thanks to everyone that has supported me so far, it really means everything to me!
This week I've had several encounters with the same theme - why does fashion matter within music? People often ask me why I run a fashion blog alongside my artist news.
Apart from the expectations that have been drilled into me from the day I performed just being a young teenager, what to wear was always something to be well considered. What we wear changes our perception and the perception of the audience, it shapes our reality. Whilst I'm more than happy lounging in a pair of Jeans and T-Shirt and hitting supermarkets in a tracksuit on a lazy day, fashion has always been and will always be a major part of my musical career.
Jason Silva has summed this up pretty well in this video:
I've been very blessed that in the last year and half that I have found a bunch of clothing labels to feature in photoshoots and gigs. Fashion, just like creating music, singing and songwriting, is an expression of art that will always be deeply interlinked. Any well educated German person will have read "Kleider machen Leute" (Clothes Make The Man) by Gottfried Keller, that shows how a persons reality was completely changed by society's judgment of his clothes and fur hat.
Even though, fashion should be used as a positive and creative, not a deceiving tool, it is powerful none the less.
I don't hold the opinion that people and their character let alone anyone's worth is defined by what they wear, it can still have a great impact and for me will always be a considerable part of any performance.
August for me has been full of family, friends and little holidays but I've also had the pleasure of playing some acoustic gigs. I've played in London for the first time and was back at Herne Bay Festival where I was a dancer and talent judge in previous years.
I also had the pleasure to do an after gig shoot with the talented photographer Richard Torble!
The dress is from Zartbitter - a very chic boutique I found on my last trip to Berlin in Friedrichsheim. It's been my favourite item this summer!
Can't wait to be playing more gigs this month! If you're an event/club/festival organiser that is looking for acts please do get in touch - music@eximouk.com
Have a great weekend! And remember - life's too short to be boring xxx
